Pre-requisites: |
Pass a pre-course written exam with a score of 80
percent or higher on each component and successfully
demonstrate competency in the skills evaluation in
accordance with the established skill standards.
Minimum age of 17. Note: This course includes a
session called Fundamentals of Instructor Training,
a pre-requisite for all Red Cross Instructor-level
courses.
The pre-course session ensures that candidates
seeking teaching authorization possess the basic
skills for the courses they wish to teach. CPR/AED
for the Professional Instructor Candidates must pass
each section of the pre-course written exam with a
score of at least 80 percent and demonstrate
competency in the skills evaluation. Course
materials are made available for review upon
registration.

Description: |
Upon conclusion of this instructor course,
candidates should be thoroughly familiar with course
materials and should be able to –
- Expand on information from the American Red
Cross Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT)
course
- To teach the CPR/AED for the Rescuer courses
- Demonstrate the characteristics required of an
American Red Cross representative and role model
- Teach courses in a manner that helps
participants stay engaged in the learning process
- Ensure participant’s health and safety during
training
- Demonstrate CPR and AED skills at an appropriate
level of performance
- Maintain complete and accurate records and
reports.
- Plan, organize and conduct the CPR/AED for the
Professional Rescuer courses in accordance with the
requirements of the specific program they will be
teaching, and evaluate participants.
- Monitor participants practice and provide
corrective feedback and encouragement consistent
with the critical skill performance steps.
Course fee of $200 includes instruction by an
authorized American Red Cross Instructor Trainer,
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor's
Manual with CD-ROM, CPR/AED for the Professional
Rescuer Participant Manual.

Refund Policy: |
Refunds are allowed if you contact Red Cross office by
calling 606-473-9594 at least 24 hours before the start
time of the course. All refunds are subject to a $10
processing fee. "No shows" are not eligible for refund. |

Certification: |
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor:
Authorization is for 2 calendar years. All
authorizations expire on December 31 of each year.
Initial authorization may be less or more time depending
on when training is completed. |
